We’re
thrilled to share that our team has been awarded the Gold Medal for Best
Landscape Design at the recent Builders and Remodelers Association of
Greater Boston (BRAGB) PRISM Awards — with a special emphasis on environmental
awareness.
This award
recognizes a deeply meaningful project located in North Middlesex,
designed in harmony with its surrounding 16 acres of woodland. What
began as the homeowners’ dream to create a home that blended seamlessly into
nature evolved into something extraordinary — a landscape that respects its
setting while pushing the limits of design and sustainability.
🌿 The Vision
Inspired by the elegance of French country architecture and the
topography of the Swiss Alps, The homeowners envisioned a residence that would blend naturally into its surroundings — a home that felt part of the 16 acres of wooded land around it. That vision became the foundation for a design that evolved through the close collaboration between Anderson Landscape Construction and Catherine Oranchak. Together, we shaped a landscape that feels born from the site itself — sculpted contours, soft transitions, and native plantings that echo the rhythm of the land and honor its natural beauty.
⛰️ The Execution
- 7,000 yards of material were used to shape naturalistic
mounds
- Over 40,000 native plugs planted to support pollinators
and ecological health
- A custom drainage system
captures runoff from over 1.5 acres, storing it in a 10,000-gallon
reservoir to supply a 40-zone irrigation system
🤝 A Project This Big Takes a Team
We’re proud to recognize the incredibly talented collaborators who brought this
vision to life:
- The homeowners, for their
trust and imagination
- Gary Stoddard and Environmental Pools,
for the original pool design
- Peter Sandorse of Phoenix Architects,
for the home’s stunning design
- Tod Wacome of Wynwood Associates,
for general contracting and coordination
- FP Reilly & Sons, for the heavy site work
- Nilton Freitas of Primo Irrigation, for
engineering an irrigation system of massive scale
- And a special thank you to Catherine
Oranchak, whose grading plan and planting palette brought natural
beauty into every detail.
